"Homecoming" is a series of photographs taken in Britain during my return visits over a period of three years while living and working in Shanghai.
The familiarity and complacency we reduce our everyday surroundings are stripped away when we are removed from these surroundings and allowed to revisit with fresh eyes. Living away from my home country has proven this and has allowed me to become a visitor on my return, and as a visitor I am able to replace familiarity with renewed emotion and engagement.
The varied content of these photographs represent a cross section of landscape experiences which have been reawakened during my return visits. They are a reflection of renewed expression of how I now visualise that familiarity.
