Emma Lowe – Funeral manager, Dignity Funeral Services, Halifax
"We understand how difficult it can be to suffer great loss at this extremely difficult and challenging time, but we are working hard to ensure that we create a funeral that is as unique and personal to your loved one, so that the service is carried out with the respect and dignity that you would expect and rightfully be shown.
We are all working in the most extreme of circumstances, we are going into situations blind and do not know what we are facing in terms of infection - especially in care homes. We are fearful for ourselves and our families, and feel we are the unspoken sector, the forgotten necessity, the front line of death, and yet still the unmentionable, but we go on in the face of fear to ensure that families and their loved ones are treated with the respect they deserve, because we know that no matter what we are feeling the feeling of shear devastation of not being present at the end of life and not being able to spend those precious hours with your loved in their final stages of life is just heart rending , so we go on and gain strength from each other.
I am so grateful to work with such an amazing team who really are the unsung heroes of covid-19."
