Luddenden Covid-19 Volunteers
Sam Sim: - "We have a big group of volunteers who do the shopping for people who are not able to get out, have telephone conversations for those who are isolated and need someone to chat to. We collect newspapers, prescriptions and have delivered lots of various information leaflets including those from the council - the newspaper collection has been going from the beginning all the way through. We have been collecting donations for food parcels which have been distributed throughout the village to people who need them – a total of 114 to date – and we donate to Ebenezer food bank as well. Through all this we have formed up strong links with the school and with St Mary’s church."
Sue Shields: - "I’ve not been going out to many places but I’ve been phoning people – older ladies mainly - and I’ve enjoyed the conversations we’ve been having, they’ve been really, really interesting. But it hasn’t been just me doing a service – it’s definitely been a two way thing and I’ve got a lot out of talking with them and I’m looking forward to meeting them when lockdown is over."
