Carolyn Cole – Pastoral Leader at Savile Park Primary School, Halifax and Jonathan Cole – Team Leader for the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team
Carolyn:
"We’re trying to do everything we normally do in school but doing it remotely. So my job is mostly to take care of vulnerable children and children who have various barriers to learning and we keep in contact with them remotely, so phone calls, skyping and email and such like and taking work to their home where they don’t have electronic devices. As well as working from home I go into school at times to print out material and do home visits when we take the resources with us and we pre-arrange with the parents that we’re coming. We’re not seeing children in their homes but knock on the door, leave the material and step back"
Jonathan:
"I took over as team leader at the end of January and the last few months have been quite an experience - I didn’t expect to be dealing in a world wide pandemic straight away! It’s meant we have had to alter a lot of the ways we work to try and safeguard team members and to safeguard the members of the public that we deal with. For a period of time it was quite quiet but we’re back to sort of normal business now ‘cause people are doing a lot of walking just near home and unfortunately have the odd slip and trip which needs our assistance back to the roadhead and then ambulance to hospital."
