Sarah Talbot – Lead Clinical Facilitator, Secondary Care, Calderdale and Huddersfield Health Trust
“I’m lead for a small team of trainers for clinical systems and we would normally be doing face to face sessions with doctors, nurses, healthcares, appointment centre staff – whoever is coming into the trust or moving onto the system. I’m part of a wider digital health team and part of the Health Informatic Service which is an IT division of Calderdale and Huddersfield Health Trust, but we work in a wider area than just the hospitals, so that’s why I’m Secondary Care, hospital based, but the Primary Care team are out in the GP practices, so it’s quite a large remit but all part of the Trust.
Things have changed because before we’d be training in the hospital, going out on the wards supporting people and whatever is needed such as programmes of inductions and other work. Its changed a lot as we’ve introduced a lot of e-learning from home and using virtual sessions with Microsoft Teams. The struggle for us is we’re quite isolated whereas normally we’d be out seeing people and that has been one of the challenges really, and also the staff out there are now not getting hands on practice where normally we’d have a training environment where they can practice, hence all the e-learning. It’s certainly been quite a change”
