"I’ve worked on the Neonatal Unit for 10 years now. We’ve been pretty lucky really, just struggling a little bit with staffing, with people self isolating, but otherwise we’ve had no covid babies so our babies have been kept safe. We've had a few mummies who have been positive but have kept their babies with them as they have been well.

We’ve offered support and been offered support from other teams – the pediatric community teams who have stopped working are now working with us on intensive care and they’ve drafted in staff to help us which is really good because babies don’t just stop being born despite epidemics that are going on, everyone continues to have babies and unwell babies.

The biggest thing for us has been the visiting – we’re having to limit parent contact with the babies which is really against everything we do – both parents can visit in intensive care but as the baby gets better its only one parent each day so that’s really difficult for us but we’re using FaceTime, and video calling and stuff to keep them connected with their babies."
